The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed defenseman Ryan McDonagh to a seven-year contract worth $6.75M per season.
McDonagh is coming off of a 29 point season split between the Rangers and Lightning. He added 5 points in the playoffs in Tampa's surprisingly short playoff run.
McDonagh came over from the Rangers along with JT Miller in a trade that was supposed to put the Lightning over the hump and make them a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. The Lightning were knocked out of the playoffs by the eventual Stanley Cup Champions the Washington Capitals.
