Joe Burrow To LSU- what does this mean for CFB

Michael Carano

On Friday, Former 4-Star recruit, and Ohio St. Quarterback, Joe Burrow announced that he will be transferring to LSU, and he will be eligible immediately. Teams like LSU, Florida, and Cincinnati, were vying for Burrow to join their team, but the Tigers came out on top.

This comes after Burrow reportedly lost the starting Quarterback back job at OSU to Dwayne Haskins. Burrow said before spring ball started that he would be transferring if you was not awarded the job by head coach, Urban Meyer, and now here we are as Burrow sets his sights on the SEC.

As Burrow will be eligible immediately, this will obviously have an immediate effect on the College Football landscape. Burrow is expected to win the staring job in Death Valley, and he could potentially be the Tigers most productive QB in years. LSU has been notorious in recent years for lack of solid and consistent play at the Quarterback position. This has been the root of all the recent struggles for LSU teams, they’ve always had an extremely talented roster, stacked with 4 and 5 star, but have a couple recent down years due to an explosive offense, and little QB production.

I Believe the addition of Burrow, may really be what the Tigers need to break out of there offensive slump of past years. With LSU possibly being a contender next year with Burrow, the SEC West may very well be the strongest division in the country. For awhile, I thought it would be the Big Ten East, with Ohio St., Michigan, Michigan St., and Penn St. Despite this, now the SEC West is looking stronger than ever. It will have obvious returning contenders in Alabama, and Auburn, who really don’t need an explanation. But what really makes the division very scary to me, is the depth with, Mississippi St, Texas A&M, and now a Joe Burrow lead LSU.

We will find out very early how effective Burrow can be, and how good LSU can be very early as they will travel to Miami week one of the season for a highly anticipated match up with the possible title contending Canes.
