When you think of Big Ten football the last team you probably think about is Purdue unless you’re from West Lafayette, then maybe the Boilers are your pride and joy. However, for the majority of Big Ten football junkies we immediately think of the powerhouses such as Michigan and Ohio State but is Purdue on the right track to possibly get back in the limelight?
Last December Purdue hired their 36th head football coach from Western Kentucky University, Jeff Brohm, and so far it looks like he is turning the program in the right direction. Before Coach Brohm was brought in, Purdue was led, if that’s what you call what he did, by Darrell Hazell who went 9-33 during his tenure at Purdue from 2013-2016… NINE wins during his three and half years as the head coach at Purdue in which he was finally terminated after his sixth game during the 2016 season. Jeff Brohm took over at Purdue last December after going 30-10 in three seasons at Western Kentucky University. While at WKU, Coach Brohm led the Hilltoppers to a bowl game in all three seasons and won the Conference USA Championship twice. Now that he is at Purdue he has done more than Hazell did in his three and half seasons. This year Brohm led Purdue to their first winning season since 2011, their first bowl game since 2012 and their first bowl win since 2011 after defeating Arizona 38-35 in the Foster Farms Bowl Game Wednesday night. So, for Purdue fans that are excited about the future of Purdue football and their new coach, it looks like Coach Brohm might be here to stay because he has the Boilers on the right track.
