Could this be the year that Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs finally win a National Championship?

Expectations are high once again for Kirby Smart and his team as a new season approaches. Could this be the year that the Georgia Bulldogs bring home a National Championship trophy to Athens? Or will this be another year of disappointment and heartache for the bulldog faithful? Only time will tell.

Georgia returns a total of ten players from last season, two of offense, and eight on defense.

Unfourtnely for the Bulldogs, what they lost on the offensive side of the ball might prove to be too much to overcome. Not only did they lose Jake Fromm at quarterback, but the Bulldogs will also be without star running back D'andre Swift as they prepare for the 2020 season. However, Kirby Smart added a quarterback in Jamie Newman to the roster. Newman comes to the Bulldogs after transferring from Wake Forest.

The two returnees for the Bulldogs on the offensive side of the ball are on the line. Starting center Trey Hill, and right guard Ben Cleveland will look to be the leaders of this inexperienced Georiga frontline.

On the defensive side of the ball, Georgia returns eight. Defensive coordinator Dan Lanning used a no-name, no particular scheme last season, 2020 will be no different for the Bulldogs. With Malik Herring and Travon Walker leading the way for the defensive front. The secondary is arguably the best secondary in all of college football coming into the 2020 season, the secondary unit, has everybody back except for J.R. Reed.

As far as the special teams unit goes, Georgia added the former Alabama strength and conditioning coach, Scott Cochran as the on-field special teams' coach. Coach Cochran and the Bulldogs will have to replace the legend in Rodrigo Blankenship.

If the offense finds a way to click, the 2020 season could be all about the Bulldogs. The pieces are there for Kirby Smart to finally break through and win his first National Championship as Head Coach.
