Big Ten Bowl Projections

Shaun Davis

Iowa got a 4 point win over Minnesota on Saturday, advancing to 7-3 and dropping the Gophers to 9-1. Michigan beat Michigan State 44-10 and continues to have a slim chance of making a New Year’s Six bowl game as they get to 8-2. The Spartans fall to 4-6, but with games against Rutgers and Maryland remaining, I think they’ll get to 6 wins. Ohio State remains undefeated with a big win over Rutgers. Wisconsin beat Nebraska, getting to 8-2 with the win. Nebraska dropped to 4-6, and with a game against Iowa remaining, I don’t think they will make a bowl game. Penn State held off Indiana, winning by 7 to get to 9-1. Indiana is 7-3 with the loss and has a chance to get to a better bowl when they play Michigan on Saturday. Purdue, who sits at 4-6, was off this week, but with games against Wisconsin and Indiana remaining, they likely won’t make a bowl game. Below are my current projections for what bowl games each Big Ten team will make.

Ohio State: Fiesta Bowl (College Football Playoff Semifinal) vs Clemson

Penn State: Rose Bowl vs Utah

Wisconsin: Citrus Bowl vs Auburn

Minnesota: Outback Bowl vs Texas A&M

Michigan: Holiday Bowl vs USC

Iowa: Gator Bowl vs Tennessee

Indiana: Redbox Bowl vs Washington

Illinois: Pinstripe Bowl vs Louisville

Michigan State: Quick Lane Bowl vs Florida State
