In the biggest game of the day in the Big Ten, Minnesota beat Penn State to advance to 9-0 while the Nittany Lions fell to 8-1. Ohio State beat Maryland 73-14, but fell to #2 because LSU beat Alabama. Wisconsin beat Iowa, advancing to 7-2. Iowa fell to 6-3, and the game will help determine the order of the Big Ten bowl games outside of the New Year’s Six. Illinois beat Michigan State to advance to 6-4, becoming bowl eligible for the first time in 5 years. Michigan State fell to 4-5 with the loss. Maryland fell to 3-7 after their loss, joining Rutgers and Northwestern as teams who aren’t eligible for a bowl. Purdue held off Northwestern, keeping their bowl hopes alive for the moment as they sit at 4-6. Michigan, Indiana, Nebraska, and Rutgers were all on bye weeks, and Nebraska will have to win 2 of their last 3 games to get to 6-6. Below are my current projections for what bowl games each Big Ten team will make.
Ohio State: Fiesta Bowl (College Football Playoff Semifinal) vs Clemson
Minnesota: Rose Bowl vs Utah
Penn State: Citrus Bowl vs Auburn
Wisconsin: Outback Bowl vs Texas A&M
Michigan: Holiday Bowl vs USC
Iowa: Gator Bowl vs Tennessee
Indiana: Redbox Bowl vs Washington
Illinois: Pinstripe Bowl vs Pittsburgh
Michigan State: Quick Lane Bowl vs Florida State
