Every October, 347 college basketball teams start their journey with one goal in mind. That goal is to reach the Final Four and be one of the last four teams remaining out of a field of 68 teams. Out of the 347 college basketball programs, only 68 have the opportunity to compete to be apart of college basketball folklore.
As the 2019-2020 season fastly approaches us, College Basketball fans across the country have had the same question. Is this the year of mayhem in college basketball? Is this the year that David slays Goliath and a mid-major wins a National Championship? Or is this the year of the elite where the Blue Bloods show their dominance? All these questions are viable as a brand new season is upon us.
Over the years we have fallen in love with the cinderella teams from the Butler team of 2010, to UMBC who was the first-ever team to defeat a one seed as a sixteen seed in the NCAA Tournament. These are the moments that define the magic of College Basketball.
With a new season just weeks away, College Basketball fans across the world can go to bed with the hope of winning a National Championship or making a program first NCAA Tournament, or maybe causing a little mayhem on their own.
With the gap being closed between the Blue Bloods of college basketball and the mid-majors this 2019-2020 season might be the most dramatic season in the history of college basketball.
Will it be the year that a program like Memphis and Penny Hardaway make a breakthrough to Atlanta, or will it be a year where a UMBC makes a run in the Tournament knocking off the elite one by one. Only time will tell, the 2019-2020 season will get underway on Tuesday, November 5th.
