5. Blake Griffin

Griffin is by no means the athletic freak he once was in his glory days with the “Lob City” Los Angeles Clippers, but he has done an excellent job in reinventing his game. Unlike earlier in his career, Griffin has finally flashed somewhat of an outside shot. Last season he knocked down 34.5% from the 3pt line. Not only that, but he’s also molded himself into a decent distributor averaging a career high in APG. Another year getting settled into Detroit will also prove that he belongs on this list for this coming year.
4. Kevin Love

Despite the narrative that the Cavs were all LeBron, Love hasn’t played horribly in his four previous seasons with the Cavs. In fact, his numbers are probably going to get even better now that he will be leaned upon as the number one scoring option. His scoring and rebounding have always been among the league’s best. Love’s going to be a double-double machine and I think he is going to be very good paired next to newly drafted rookie G Collin Sexton. The two-man game between those two is going to be very fun to watch. Not all is lost for the 2018-2019 Cleveland Cavaliers.
3. LaMarcus Aldridge

Ever since Aldridge’s arrival in San Antonio via free agency, he has been a mainstay for Greg Popovich and the Spurs. He is a fantastic and efficient scorer, putting up 23.1 points which ranks third among true big men in the entire league, mainly through the use of post moves. Rebounding has never been an issue for Aldridge, and should continue going into this season. Like other players under Popovich, his defense also has continuously gotten better and better every year. Although age may be starting to creep up on him, expect another big season especially with another big time player (DeMar Derozan) with him.
2. Draymond Green

Draymond’s importance to the success of the Golden State Warriors is undeniable. Although his stat line (11 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 7.3 assists, and above 1.0 steals/blocks) is not out of this world great like other top players, he acts as the engine that makes his team run. Not only is he among the top defensive players in the league, but his incredible passing skills makes it that much easier for Curry, Thompson, and Durant to thrive. Without Green, the Warriors would undoubtedly be in a different place then they are now.
1. Anthony Davis

There’s not really much to say, Anthony Davis is one of the top 3 players in the entire league. There’s basically nothing that Davis doesn’t do at an elite level. This was put on display when Davis willed the Pelicans to the playoffs and a first round upset over the Portland Trail Blazers. In efficiency, Davis ranked among the league’s best a season ago. His stat line was incredible too; 28.1 PPG, 11.1 RPG, 2.3 APG, and 2.6 BPG (first in the NBA). He found his shooting touch with career highs in FG % and those numbers rose when the playoffs rolled around. He’s one of the NBA’s greatest talents at this point.
