You could call Alex Lyon a Lion when he does well, but today that wasn’t the case as he had to get pulled. You have to understand, every player has good games, and bad games, and tonight was definitely one of his bad games. Despite a 1-0 lead early in the game, the Pens did what they always do and came back to lead and win in the long run.

The game started off with a early goal, which happened to be Jordan Weal passing a puck back to a late Travis Sanheim who would skate to the puck and slap the puck top shelf past goalie Matt Murray five minutes in to the first period. Conor Sheary hasn’t been great this season, but this flip pass over the defense of the Flyers was amazing which happened to go right to Derick Brassards stick who carried in on a breakaway as he sniped Lyon over his blocker and tied up the game at 1 five minutes later. After turning the puck over, the Flyers carried the puck into the zone and a back-pass to Brendan Manning rifled past Murray glove side which gave the Flyers another lead at 2-1. About 42 seconds into the second period, Phil Kessel passed the puck right to Patric Hornqvist in front of Lyons net and Hornqvist spun around, put a shot off the post past Alex Lyon to tie the game.
On a delayed penalty, Evgeni Malkin faked a shot, deked, and put a shot right through Lyons legs and into the net to give Pittsburgh their first lead of the game only 3 minutes after they had tied it up. Later that period the Flyers were able to get a powerplay, and Gostisbere was able to smack a rebound shot past Murray to tie up the game with 2 minutes to go in the second period. Flyers coach then decided to pull Alex Lyon, and replace him for Petr Mrazek.
The Penguins responded and 40 seconds into the third period, Crosby snapped a wrister over the glove of Mrazek, to make it 4-3. There wasn’t much action until 47 seconds left in the game, when the net was empty, and the Flyers had an extra attacker. There was a big scramble in the net, but Sean Couturier was able to put the puck in the back of the net, to send it to overtime. In the overtime session after a series of passes, Sidney Crosby put a puck in front of the net, and Bryan Rust tipped it in to win the game, 5-4, and the Pens swept the season series. Another note to add to that, they scored 5 goals in every game against the Flyers.
