SEC Power Rankings

Mitch Davis

The South: After yet another crazy week in the SEC one thing stays the same, the amount of parity and craziness changes from week to week. The one thing that has stayed the same from week to week is the dominance of the Auburn Tigers. Bruce Pearl’s team is red hot and smoking and with a two game lead in the standings some might start to think are the Tigers legit? The answer is yes, however with Kentucky and Florida left the Tigers will look to continue this dominance into the grind of SEC play and into March. Without further ado the SEC power rankings take in count how each team looks and does the previous week and is constantly changing from week to week.

  1. Auburn( 21-2, 9-1) - The Auburn Tigers are by far the most dominant team so far in the SEC. With two huge wins this week the Tigers are back on the top line in the power rankings this week. The Tigers will face an interesting week with the Aggies coming to town Wednesday, before traveling to Georgia on Saturday.

  1. Tennessee( 17-5, 7-3) - The Volunteers are looking more and more each week as one of the best teams in the SEC. Rick Barnes has his boys playing with an intensity and grit that Volunteer nation has longed for years. The Vols will face a difficult road week this week as they start with a Kentucky team who the Volunteers pounded back in early January at Tennessee , before heading to Tuscaloosa to face arch rival Alabama on Saturday. If the Vols can string together two wins they might be looking at a two seed in the NCAA tournament.

  2. Alabama( 15-8, 6-4)- The Crimson tide are coming into this week after a huge road win at Florida . The Crimson Tide will face Mississippi State on the road Tuesday and back home to face Tennessee on Saturday.

  3. Kentucky( 17-6, 6-4) - The Wildcats are coming off a dismal week with a squeak by win over Vanderbilt, and a bad loss at Missouri. The Wildcats will have a tough week as they host Tennessee on Tuesday night, to end the week the Wildcats will travel to College Station to face a scrappy Texas A&M team.

  4. Mississippi State ( 17-6, 5-5) - The Bulldogs are coming into this week riding a three game winning streak with the chance of gathering two more this week as they will host Alabama on Tuesday night and travel to Missouri on Saturday.

  5. Florida( 15-8, 6-4) - The Gators are lacking consistency after two games last week by double digits both times. The Gators look to rebound this week with LSU at home on Wednesday and on the road Saturday at South Carolina.

  6. Texas A&M( 15-8, 4-6) - The Aggies are fresh off back to back double digit wins last week and look to find that groove this week with a road game at Auburn on Wednesday and back home Saturday to host Kentucky.

  1. Missouri( 15-8, 5-5) - Missouri is coming identical wins over Alabama and Kentucky last week, The Tigers will look to continue this momentum this week as they face both Mississippi schools this week. They travel to Ole Miss on Tuesday and back home to face Mississippi State on Saturday.

  2. LSU( 13-9, 4-6) - The Tigers win over the Razorbacks have them in at number nine over the Hogs this week. LSU will travel to Florida on Wednesday and back home to face Ole Miss on Saturday.

  3. Arkansas( 13-9, 4-6) - The Hogs will have a pair of home games this week as they host South Carolina on Tuesday, and Vanderbilt on Saturday.

  4. South Carolina ( 13-10, 4-6) - The Gamecocks will face a tough week with a road game at Arkansas on Tuesday and back home Saturday to host the Gators.

  5. Georgia( 13-9, 4-6) - The Bulldogs will look to carry the momentum this week against Vanderbilt on Wednesday night, and back home with a shot at an upset Saturday as they host Auburn.

  6. Ole Miss ( 11-12, 4-6) - The Rebels look to gain some confidence this week as they host Missouri on Tuesday night, and back on the road Saturday to face LSU.

  1. Vanderbilt ( 8- 15, 2-8) - The Commordores look to bounce back after back to back heart breaking losses as they host Georgia on Tuesday, and at Arkansas on Saturday.

With another week in the SEC upon us one thing is for certain the games will be cause of drama and absolute mayhem.
