5 Games to Watch This Weekend In College Football

1. (2)Penn State vs. (6)Ohio State

It's hard to say with Wisconsin in the Big 10 west, but the winner of this game will have the clear path to the College football playoffs. Ohio State almost certainly will be eliminated with a loss and Penn State's chances would drop dramatically. There are also many underlying story lines, for instance the Heisman race for Saquon Barkley. A dominating performance in back to back weeks would make it very hard to vote against him unless he absolutely falls flat the last month of the year. Ohio State also wants to avenge their only regular season loss last year, and Penn State may have a chip on their shoulder as some argue they should have made it over Ohio State last year.

Prediction: Penn State 23-21

2. (11)Oklahoma State vs. (22)West Virginia

If you like points watch this, two of the best offenses in the nation square off in another Big 12 shoot out. Both teams average over 40 ppg and with the over/under at 73 currently I would be surprised if there isn't at least one team in the 40's if not both by the end. While both teams have had some disappointing losses this year, a win here would put them in a good position to finish the year strong.

Prediction: West Virginia 41-31

3. (3)Georgia vs. Florida

While this may not look like a good game on paper it has huge implications. Florida comes in the underdog as they have 2 of the last 3 years. However the last 3 years they have won every game. A loss from Georgia would almost certainly eliminate them from the playoffs as they have to face Alabama eventually in the SEC championship. Georgia has looked as good as any team in the country and with Florida struggling it looks to be a blowout, but this is one of those games that always stays close.

Prediction: Georgia: 27-13

4. (25)Iowa State vs. (4) TCU

TCU is sitting in the drivers seat right now in the Big 12 and winning out would certainly get them in the college football playoffs, thats easier said than done however. Iowa State is one of the biggest surprises this year in college football sitting at 5-2 and cracking the top 25 in who knows how long. Everyone remembers their huge upset win over Oklahoma in Norman, a win here or even a close loss would mean that they are for real and I expect the Cyclones to show up this Saturday.

Prediction: TCU: 37-20

5.Texas State vs. Coastal Carolina

This is an under the radar match up this week, with both teams sitting at 1-6 a loss here would almost certainly eliminate you from bowl consideration. While the chances of finishing with 6 wins is low it can be done, for example Miami (OH) started last year 0-6 and finished 6-6 after a 6 game win streak to end the year. This game also features one of the more under the radar players in the country in Coastal Carolinas QB Tyler Keane, who is my dark horse in the Heisman running. While I'm not sure he will win it, he does have over 1200 passing yards and 10 TD's and a big game this weekend followed by 700+ yards and 7+ touchdowns every game from here on out could get him an invite to New York as a Heisman finalist at the least.

Prediction: Coastal Carolina 88-82 (9OT)
